For fifteen years, I worked in and around the public school system. I worked as a paraeducator while I earned my teaching degree, a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in English Language Arts. After graduating, I taught in public school for seven years (2nd, 4th, and middle school). I continued to tutor and substitute for five more years once I had three children of my own. Combining that with 25 years of volunteer work in local children’s ministry, my love for working with children has been life-long! I enjoy using everything I have learned to create an educational experience that fits the needs of each learner. Along with rigorous academics, we explore the world around us, emphasize the topics we yearn to understand, read books for every situation, and are immersed in sunlight! The Latin word “apricus” means "covered in sunlight," and that holds so much meaning: to be bathed in the light of knowledge and understanding, to have a path lit by the Word of God, and to be in the literal sunlight out in nature as much as possible. Using these three prongs, our microschool flourishes!
