Hello! I’m Jamie! I’m a mother of 2 boys – a tech-savvy, stargazing 14-year-old and an energetic 7-year-old. I'm an avid reader, I prefer being outdoors, I enjoy gardening, cooking, practicing yoga, and I’m a lifelong learner. My passion is inspiring that love of learning in young people through Socratic methods, project-based learning, and critical thinking. I have 20 years of experience working with children: from child care and environmental education, to teaching English as a second language and homeschooling. I am an AMI-certified Montessori Guide with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Prenda was a natural fit for me. Freedom in Knowledge Academy partners with Ashleigh Hernandez's Microschool for K-3rd grades. Ashleigh is a long-time Montessori colleague and dear friend. Together, we mentor and guide a complete K-8th microschool to help prepare your learners for participation in the world of the future and to equip them with the skills they need to reach their optimal potential.
