Natassia Burgess
Homesteader passionate about teaching children life skills!
My journey began in my preteen years when I was enrolled in a small, religious private school. Classes were small, school hours were shorter, and teachers were actively engaged. Each student was seen as an individual and had the help they needed to thrive. A few years later I transitioned into public school and felt that the structure was not set up for student success. I struggled to love learning. As a mother, I watched my oldest daughter struggle in a traditional school setting. During her first-grade year, I decided to begin homeschooling. As a guide, I encourage self-reliance and independence. When children are able to build upon their strengths, it makes learning more enjoyable. It also helps to foster confidence and teamwork. Our class runs year-round, providing learners with a consistent routine and learning experience. It also helps make up for sick days and travel, giving more flexibility. Life skills are an essential part of our learning. This includes meal planning, baking, animal care, and gardening in our class garden! Lunch is provided at no extra cost. “Tell me and I'll forget, teach me and I'll remember, involve me and I'll learn.” Benjamin Franklin
