I’m a homeschooling mother of five and the founder of Orca Pod Academy, a personalized hybrid microschool rooted in intentional learning, strong relationships, and whole child development. Through my journey into mental models, metacognition, conscious parenting, and personalized education, I began developing a different approach to learning focused on helping children become thoughtful, capable, adaptable, and internally equipped for life. At the heart of Orca Pod is the belief that education should do more than transfer information. It should shape how children think, communicate, create, adapt, and navigate life. In a world where information is instantly accessible, I believe the ability to think clearly, communicate effectively, and direct one’s own learning has become more valuable than ever. Our environment blends mastery based academics, creativity, emotional intelligence, communication development, hands on learning, entrepreneurship, and strong learner agency in a small, relationship centered environment where children can feel deeply known, supported, and empowered to grow with confidence, curiosity, resilience, and a genuine love for learning.
